My Vote for worst ‘Letter to the Editor’ for Friday, October 31, 2008 goes to Jean Naples. The letter is reprinted in its entirety (italicized text) below these comments.

Unfortunately for Jean she ignores the reality that for six of the last eight years, our country was led by a pro-life republican President and pro-life republican control of both houses of congress. What meaningful action did they make related to abortion? Yes, none is the correct answer.

Now, I can not say this with absolute certainty, I will likely not be able to until shortly after my own passing, but I am pretty sure that a vote for Obama is not a sin against God.

Christian voters who base their choices on this, or any single issue, do themselves, their religious community, and our society a disservice. Should abortion play a role in the decision making process for Catholic and other Christian faith voters—absolutely—in fact, it should be a major consideration. Less us not forget that other issues should also be very important to people of faith.

Jean’s Letter:
A vote for Obama a sin against God
A line has clearly been drawn in the sand. Voters must choose between a pro-abortion president and a pro-life president. There is no middle ground.
Obama has a 100 percent pro-abortion voting record. His views are extreme. Three times he voted against life-saving treatment for babies born alive after an abortion. Even Boxer, Clinton and Kennedy disagreed with him. These babies are left alone, gasping for air, until they die of neglect. (see "Obama and Live Birth Abortion "on You Tube) This is not abortion but infanticide.
Obama has vowed to sign the Freedom of Choice Act, which would remove all restrictions on abortion throughout the country, including partial-birth abortion. Apparently Obama is in favor of stabbing pre-born children in the back of the head with surgical scissors. Under Obama, Roe vs. Wade would be entrenched for decades, perhaps forever. His running mate, Joe Biden, agrees with him.
John McCain and Sarah Palin are unequivocally pro-life.
At long last, Catholic bishops have spoken out (those who are not cowards). A vote for Obama is a sin against God. The Catholic Church clearly states that, while many issues are important, the right to life is primary, overshadowing all else. Some brave bishops went so far as to warn the faithful that a vote for Obama could damn one's soul. If you vote for a pro-abortion candidate, you are pro-abortion. You cannot be both Catholic and pro-choice.
The future of America lies not in money, but in our children. "If your heart turns away, and you will not hear, but are drawn away to worship other gods and serve them, I declare to you this day that you shall perish "¦ I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse" (Deuteronomy 30:17-19). America, defend life! (John Paul II)
